Personal Testimony

I was born in deaf in Hanover, PA and grew up in Manchester, MD. Two of my siblings are also deaf. We attended church every Sunday but there was no interpreter. One night, my friend's parents invited me to go to a special conference where an evangelist named Ted Camp preached in sign language. The message opened my eyes to the Truth that Jesus died for me and my sins. I received Christ Jesus as my personal Savior. A few weeks later, I experienced the rejection and loss of my friends because of my new faith. Soon I gave in to my old ways. At 15, life had gotten worse. I ran away from home twice and attempted suicide 7 times. After my last attempt, I was sent to the state of psychiatric hospital for 4 1/2 months. Soon after, I realized God had give me a 2nd change I was filled with gratitude and rededicated my life to God. My burden for the Deaf grew because I didn't want them to experience what I had gone through. I want them to know Christ Jesus as their personal Savior. When I met my husband, I found that we shared the same vision for reaching the Deaf for Christ.
